There have been many shows that feature that boring serviced office space and have turned it into something quite funny, so here are just some of the best ones that have ever come onto our screens.

The IT Crowd

A extremely funny show here in the UK which was due for a release in the USA but never quite made it. Basically the show is set in an entire office block of a very powerful company that is within London. However the main focus of the show is not on the extravagant lifestyle of the bosses of the business but is focused in on the basement of the building where the IT techs work and actually keep the entire business going. It tackles a problem that many businesses have as they think that the IT guys are all just geeks that do not tend to do a lot for the company when in fact a lot of the time they are the ones that make it possible for the company to go about their normal business.

The team are not even given decent office chairs.

The Office

The office once again started here in the UK and has since gone on to become a huge success worldwide which is pretty amazing really. The original series in the UK had just two seasons whereas the NBC series in the US has gone on to have almost six seasons and has won various awards for the show. It has been rumoured that the team are going to be getting together for another special (The British guys) so that will be something to look forward to in the near future.

So instead of looking into getting those boring modern office chairs why not get in some of these shows and have a watch!

So there you have it.

TVs have come a long way since their first conception. It was necessary with the first TV models to sit incredibly close and have the TV in the lightest room in house to make anything out. Since then we have had stereo sound, widescreen, plasma, LCD and whole host of other developments to quench our thirst for technology.

The newest television innovation to make its way into the market is LED-lighting. LEDs are cropping up all over the place recently, in everything from car headlights to light-up crystal vases. Their popularity stems largely from their durability, their ability to create very pure light, and their energy efficiency. It is true that TVs do work very well with fluorescent lighting, but as technology continues to advance and more is demanded of screen lighting, a better alternative is now needed.

An increase in demand for faster, slicker and more defined pictures, coupled with a desire for everything to be super slim, goes some way to explain why LED lighting found its way into TVs. People want their phones, stereos and even vases slim line these days, and TVs are no different. As the LED backlit TVs use a special diffusion panel to create an even spread of light across the screen, the lights can be around the edge of the TV and not behind the screen. This means that many models are only around an inch thick. There are also benefits in the range of colours available to view and better dynamic contrast.

The LED-lit TVs are also more kind to the environment (and your wallet) than the old lighting. The LED lights consume only around a 4th of the electricity that the standard fluorescent lights do. Further more, when it comes to disposing of them, there is a great deal less pollution. Additionally, LED-lit televisions are less prone to power-surge damage and even water damage. That said, its not advised that you start resting your wine glasses on top of them, just in case.

Almost every area of modern technology is moving forwards at an unbelievable rate, but some areas seem to have a little more pace than others. These are namely the areas of personal entertainment and home-computing, both of which have seen a large rise in demand and have responded with incredible developments and reductions in cost. Technology that helps with personal navigation has also moved on a long way. Here are 3 of the most prominent advances in the last few years.

Sat Nav. Portable car navigation aids cannot be thought of as new any more, but they are being reinvented all the time and are better than ever. They are much quicker at identifying current locations and calculating routes, which makes them a lot more useful. It is now a lot easier to navigation the menus and enter addresses as well using new intelligent touch-screens. You can even get them built into phones now, making them a favourite of cheats on orienteering team building days.

Transport Information. Trains, planes, boats and all sorts of other vehicles have been going for ages, but it has not always been easy to find out when they are leaving or arriving, especially at late notice. That all changed however when travel operators started publishing their timetables onto the world wide web for everyone to see. Furthermore, there are aggregator programs that allow you to type in a venue such as Cheltenham and they will tell you all the travel routes and times and also tell you any events going on such as Cheltenham hospitality events and festivals.

Peer Location. If you have ever wanted to know where you friends and family are at every waking hour, there has never been a better time to do it. Many phone companies are now able to offer a service that allows you to see exactly where your friends and family are, as long as they have signed up and given their consent to tracking also. This is very useful for keep track of people at a festival or large corporate hospitality events for example, as people tend to wonder off and get lost quite a bit.

Web hosting is an essential part of every online business and is something that every website owner will have to look for. However as with most things in life there are some things to look out for and avoid. You can better avoid the many common mistakes that are made if you know what they are.

A more common error that many new website owners make when deciding on a web host is not being aware of any hidden fees or charges. Many people often think that they are getting everything they need included in the price they are paying only to find out down the road that some features cost more money. It is important to make sure that the price you are paying will include everything that you might require such as reporting tools etc.

Continuous server connection is something that no web host can guarantee to provide. You should avoid companies that promise 100% uptime as this is something that is just not possible to guarantee. If a web host is reliable they will not be offering you features that are not possible.

Good technical support and customer service are two essential things to look for in a good web host. Without these two features you will almost certainly experience frustration and anger. Customers need to be able to contact their web host when they are having problems and should be able to expect their problems to be solved effectively. In order to make sure that a web host has good customer and technical support, it would be worthwhile visiting the forums to get some feedback from current customers.

Most good web hosts will also have money back schemes or free trial offers so if a web host doesn’t, then you should be wary. Most good web hosts will not be worried about anyone wanting their money back as they will be confident of the service they are providing.

When you decide to go into internet marketing, you should make sure that you have hosting set up beforehand. But the world of web hosting can be confusing. For instance, you could find reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting on your travels.

Web hosting is crucial to any new website in order for it to be visible on the World Wide Web. You will have to follow a few steps to make sure that your website is hosted correctly.

You will first have to decide whether free web hosting, shared web hosting or dedicated web hosting is the best choice of web hosting service for your needs. If you are setting up an online business, you will more than likely be better off with paid web hosting whereas free web hosting may be the better option if you want to use your website for business use.

After you have decided on the type of web hosting that you are going for, you can then start to think about a domain name. Your domain name should be relevant to the type of website you are setting up. People remember names of sites much easier if they are in some way descriptive of the products or services on offer.

The next thing to do once you have chosen your domain name for your site and the type of web hosting that is right for you, is to look for the actual web host you are going to choose. If you want to choose a reliable host you will need to look for certain features. Your web host should provide quality customer service, technical support, and sufficient bandwidth and space. You can make sure that any web host you are using is good by checking out customer reviews and seeing what existing customers think of the service they are getting.

You can then begin to get your website set up. It should not be difficult to get your site up and running smoothly and swiftly as most web hosts feature user friendly tools. As soon as your site is ready to go, you will have to try to get as much traffic to it as possible. Your site will more than likely make more money if you can drive more traffic its way. Making money is probably the whole reason you set up your site.

Whenever you make your decision to enter the big, bad world of internet marketing, you should really have hosting dealt with beforehand. Newbie’s can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. For example, you may come across reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting while searching different options.

Most business travelers carry a laptop on all trips, even international. Of course, this adds convenience to the trip, but it also adds a potential security risk. Security problems range from stolen equipment to wireless network hacks, travelers have to be extra aware while traveling.

Most business people are focused on their jobs, this is why extra precautions must be implemented on any trip. While there is no certainty when it comes to computer safety, the following tips for travelers can help you maximize your chances of returning to work with your data intact.

Protect Your Laptop

Basically, there are many different steps you can take to prevent your laptop from being stolen. During the airport screening, be sure to always remain aware of where your laptop is and make sure people don’t skip in front of you. At the same time, you’ll always want to keep your computer close at hand so you can prevent any potential theft or loss on the road. Securing your physical hardware is an important first step in realizing success on the road.

There are also several tracking technologies you can use to help protect your laptop. There are both tracking technologies which can help identify the location of a lost computer, as well as encryption software that can prevent a loss of data in case of a stolen computer. This is especially helpful if you carry important, private documents on your laptop. There are leading programs such as Secure It which prevent unauthorized users from accessing your data, as well as secure encryption technologies such as Bit Locker which make it nearly impossible for anyone to have access to your data without permission.

Secure Your Network Connection

Nearly all hotels these days offer a free wireless connection, however most are still unencrypted making your data available to hackers. Where possible be sure to use your companies secure VPN or any number of other methods to keep your data safe.

Consider a good Chicago computer repair company to help you secure your data while traveling.

Computers have clearly come on a long way since they first became commercially available. The most obvious advances have been in reducing the size of different computer parts, sometimes by up to as much as 5000%. This has meant that computers are great deal lighter and more mobile and also means that more technology and filament replacements can be fitted in without compromising on overall size.

An area of technology that is seen major developments in recent years is wireless functionality. This has been implemented into the design of a large number of keyboards, mice and more recently Internet connections. However, most computers are still built using wires or Kings Electronics to connect the various components and this has its draw backs. To start with, wires often get in the way and limit what you can connect when making additions to the motherboard. They can also often become faulty and make it difficult to track down hardware problems.

This may all be about to change however with the development of wireless computer components that allow the different elements of a computer to communicate with each other without the need for cables. For example the hard drive can communicate with the processor and the modem without lots of internal wires and can be self contained without having lots of input ports which are vulnerable to dust and moisture. It will also allow for different computer components to be in alternative locations. This comes in useful if you need mobility of your hard-drive or disc drive, or just want to connect another piece of hardware without opening the computer up.

The technology is still in testing stages but will be included in a number of computer systems by 2012 along with the new trackside communications cable technology for HD computer monitors.

Getting a good web hosting service is absolutely essential for those looking to start out in the world of online business. Web hosting is crucial to the success of your business. With such a plethora of choices when it comes to web hosting, and with hundreds of services available online, it is essential you choose the right one for your business.

There are certain things to look for when choosing a good web hosting service. Customer service ranks very highly as one of these things to look out for in a web hosting service. It is also imperative that the web host you choose has top quality technical support on offer. You should always look, therefore, for a company that offers 324/7 support to its customers. This is vital, especially for people who are new to the whole process and may feel they will need much assistance at the beginning. However, you should check out customer reviews to make sure that the company is living up to its promises.

A good web hosting company will also offer many different packages to suit a variety of needs. You should also be able to upgrade your package if your business grows and there is a need for more bandwidth and space.

Make sure the web hosting company also makes a guarantee over the uptime of its servers. Continuous uptime is imperative for any good online business so a web host that can offer up to 99 percent uptime is a good place to start.

If the web host in question offers an easy to use interface, this is even better for the customer. As a final consideration, make sure the web hosting service in question also offers free email accounts with their hosting, as this ultimately gives any business a more professional appearance.

Cell (mobile) phones have been on a serious diet since their conception well over a decade ago. They have moved from being the size of fax machine to items no bigger than a cigarette lighter in many cases. That said, there was a marked reversal in this shrinking progress as phones took on more and more functions and applications, such as being used as video cameras and personal organisers. Many of the newer ’smart phones’ benefit from better design and functionality, but suffer from bulkiness when compared to lots of their predecessors. Not all is lost though as phones are getting back on the wagon.

As mobile Internet connectivity becomes increasing more widespread and the speeds continue to increase almost daily, there is a dwindling need to store all your applications and files on the phone itself. What would happen is that information and programs would be streamed into the phone from an external source only when you request them. This then allows phones to essentially act like shells, that can be used for different things at different times, just by feeding different information into them.

How this will work is that you will have a central hub, either at home or hosted with an external company. On the central hub you will have all the software and individual files that you need for your phone to function and you will be able to access these using your handset at any time. You will still need a certain amount of hardware in the phone, such as a camera and other electrical components, but you will be able to save huge amounts of space where memory, processors and mini fan accessories would normally be found. This means then that phones could be not much bigger than cable ties and you could even wear them as accessories such on a necklace or as a wrist-band. As phones would not be constrained by previous standard conventions, their evolution in terms of appearance could be almost limitless.

You may find that there are hundreds of web hosts which are all in competition to get your business. That is why it can be tricky to get the most suitable web host for your specific needs. Not only are there many web hosts out there but there are a number of different types including free web hosts, shared web hosts and dedicated web hosts. Your specific needs will be the basis on which you choose the ideal web host.

Probably the most popular choice for people is shared web hosting. Dedicated web hosting is just too expensive for most people and free web hosting can look unprofessional and this can impact your site in a bad way. Shared hosting on the other hand, has many benefits. With shared web hosting your site will be allocated a space on a server along with many other customers’ sites. Each site on the server will have its own amount of space. For smaller businesses, personal sites or blogs, shared web hosting is the perfect choice. All sites on the server will share the resources of the server.

The price of shared web hosting gives it another advantage. Obviously it cannot compete with free web hosting in this area but as mentioned before, free web hosting creates a negative impression of a website. Shared web hosting is affordable and offers a professional reliable service. However, although you may be offered a cheaper price for paying up front for one or two years, you should make sure that you are happy with a web host before choosing that option.

If you look you will be able to find a top quality web host that can offer a reliable service and almost consistent uptime. There should be a package available which will suit the needs of almost all website owners.

When you decide to go into internet marketing, you should make sure that you have hosting sorted out. Newbie’s can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. For instance, you could find reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting when you are looking at different hosting plans.
